Macob submits plans for 72–bed care home in Basingstoke
Plans for a 72-bed care home for local elderly people in Basingstoke with 24-hour nursing have been submitted to Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council.
Developer Macob Properties Ltd, purchased the 0.3 hectare site on Grove Road in May 2008 and is selling the land to care home provider Grace Lodge for development.
The high quality 3,836 sq m three-storey facility designed by Cardiff-based Kennedy James Griffiths Architects will provide modern, purpose built accommodation which will offer specialist nursing and dementia care for the frail and elderly with high dependency needs.
The design includes three dining rooms with family kitchens, 11 sitting rooms, a hairdressing and beauty salon, coffee shop, IT suite, staff offices and accommodation, fully landscaped gardens and 24 parking spaces.
The home will be built on land at the former Jacksons Garage and will create 58 full time jobs to provide round-the-clock care.
Daniel Roberts, Director at Macob Properties said: “There is limited care provision in the local area and this new facility will go a long way to bridging this gap. Additionally it will also provide an injection of jobs to the area both in the construction and operation of the home.”
Macob Properties is a subsidiary of property development and construction group Macob. Employing 200, Macob is headquartered in Cardiff with offices across the UK including Bristol, Chichester and Manchester. It operates in the commercial, health, education and residential sectors.
